It seems that Chicago is becoming the center of the universe. BHO is Chicago's favorite son, for now. BLAGO was the hottest political story for the last 2 months, and now Burris is the new political story. All for the wrong reasons of course.
Yet, something curious is happening. The Chicago Young Republicans are seeing an EXPLOSION in membership, if fact the election day event was the largest Republican event in the last 8 YEARS. It is these young activist, the grassroots if you will, that are going to lead a political revolution.
As a kid, I remember when Mr. Wonderful turned on, and attacked Hulk Hogan. Well here in Chicago, former Democrat Paul Vallas has metaphorically hit the democratic party with a steel chair! Vallas a HUGE vote getter in Chicago and Cook County has "turned" and will possibly run for Cook County President as a Republican.
Yesterday, at the CBOT building, right on LaSalle Street, CNBC reporter Rick Santelli had the "rant" that was heard around the world. It seems that a revolution is starting- right in the belly of the beast, in Chicago, right now.
A number of groups have started to get Rick's "Tea Party" going: http://americanfuturefund.com/sign-the-petition-for-a-chicago-tea-party/
It seems like the opposition is finally starting to form. The thing is, I don't want to wait till July to have the Chicago Tea Party - we need one right now!
